Photo Rejuvenation is a safe, easy, and quick way to reduce common complexion flaws, providing you with smoother, healthier, younger-looking skin. Photorejuvenation is often referred to as “photofacial,” but can be used anywhere on the body to eliminate the following:
•Pigmentation (age spots, sun damage)
•Rosacea (redness of cheeksand face)
•Hemangioma (red birthmark or raised red cluster of blood
How does it work?
Filtered energy from different parts of the light spectrum is pulsed in precise dosages through a handpiece to the targeted area. The levels of energy can be adjusted to your individual skin condition to maximize your results. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment or by the blood (in rosacea and hemangioma) and it is converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells or tiny veins that created the problem and the dead cells or disabled veins slough off and disappear.
Treatments take about 15-30 minutes. There is no significant discomfort during or following treatment. Best results usually require a series of 2-4 treatments, depending on the area and the condition of your skin.
What can I expect?
There is no down time and usually no discomfort following the procedure. For some patients the treated skin may appear a little flushed or it may feel like a mild sunburn for a few hours. Following treament, you should avoid harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen for 10 days.
Pigmentation / Sunspots: The spots will darken after treatment and be naturally shed from the skin within 1-2 weeks, replaced by new non-pigmented skin cells.
Rosacea: Skin tone will be more normal with less redness within a week after treatment.
Hemangiomas / Facial Veins/ Spider Veins: Blood vessels may disappear after treatment or they may appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10-14 days.
Enlarged Pores: Improvement in skin tone will be noticeable within one week after treatment.
Typically, several treatments will be necessary to achieve complete clearance of pigmentation, rosacea, and hemangiomas. Improvements will continue to increase cumulatively with each treatment.
