How does Skin Tightening work?

The Palomar Lux™ handpiece delivers a precise intensity of infra-red light pulses, extending up to 6mm into the dermis. This creates little “islands” of deep heated tissue, which causes the soft tisuue in the dermis and hypodermis (the deepest layer of skin) to coagulate, while leaving the epidermis (outer layer of skin) intact. The body’s natural response is to generate new tissue with tighter elasticity. The result is a reduction in the laxity of the skin and a tighter, smoother appearance.

Is the procedure safe? Is it painful?

The Palomar system is safe for all skin types. Unique technology cools and protects the skin during treatment. You will feel the warmth of the infra-red light as it is absorbed by your skin tissue. What can I expect after treatment?

Most people experience a lingering warmth, tightness, or mild redness in the treated area which fades in a few hours. Generally you can return to work or other activity immediately following treatment without any recovery time.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients see some results immediately following treatment with increasing results over the next few weeks. Optimum results of tighter, smoother skin may require a series of several treatments at 4-6 week intervals.
